The Swoon Event: Mini Recap

I had so much fun at The Swoon Event in San Diego last month! It was wonderful to meet with brides and share in their journey of wedding planning!

I'm so used to working from home as a mother and communicating over the internet. I did this show to learn and step out of my comfort zone. So happy I did because it's a totally different experience to meet customers and potential customers in person and have REAL conversations! Thankful for this event and the amazing people who put this show together.

Also, a huge THANK YOU to my dear friend Tara from Messy Mornings & Mascara for spending the day with me and Cristina from CC Vintage Rentals for letting me use her gorgeous bench and mirror for my booth! Here is just a small peak of the event. More to come!

Creative Live + My Trip to the Frisco Bay

Last week, I hopped on an airplane with my friend Tara from Laila's Charming Pieces to be a part of the Creative Live studios in San Francisco. If you haven't heard of Creative Live, it's an amazing site full of workshops for the creatives including makers, photographers and business folks. They provide live broadcasts for free where you can learn SO MUCH and even purchase classes to re-watch whenever you want. Seriously great stuff!

Tara and I headed up there Thursday night (7/16) and finally arrived in our bed a little past midnight after a flight delay, shuttle delay and late check-in but alas, we made it to San Fran!!

The next morning, we headed to the Creative Live studios for the following three days to be a part of the Marketing for Creatives workshop with Tara Swiger. Each day, we were at the studio from 8am-4pm for the workshop which was filled with learning, lots of thinking and a ton of work. I am so thankful that I did this though because it really made me think about what I want out of my business and write it down to make it concrete rather than put all of that work and pondering off like I usually do.

There was so much that I learned and many thoughts that ran through my mind once I left this class!

Before you read up on all the info in the posts linked above, scroll through all of the photos below as I share some of the memories we captured while in the studio and in San Francisco.

Here's a peek of our trip behind the lens.

Some of the great people we had lunch with each day.

Each day, CL catered our breakfast and lunch. So yummy! Our lunch each day was total "San Francisco" food. If you've ever been to San Fran, you understand what I mean.

Just one of the yummy meals I ate at the studio. I looked forward to breakfast every morning while I was here!

This is where we spent most of our time. The CL studio alone was so inspiring!

Each evening, after the workshop, Tara and I headed out to eat some dinner and explore as much of the city we could before heading back to our room to finish up "homework". These are glimpses of our evenings.
We ate at Chez Maman for our first dinner and had truffle Mac n' Cheese and shared a cheeseburger. I paired it with a glass of Sangria. "When in Rome" right?

We later walked by the beautiful city hall.

Cartwheels and the Golden Gate Bridge. I've done my job here.

Because sometimes, you just have to be silly.

After wrapping up the second day of the workshop, Tara and I headed out on the town to grab some dinner. When I got into the Uber, there was a rose on my seat! I'm sure it was left by accident from the previous passengers but none the less, I was appreciative and it made my day.

Later, I left it on a bench along the bay to make someone else smile.
Almost got hit taking this photo...

On the last evening we had here, we headed to Peet's Coffee to try their vanilla lattes for the first time. We bonded as friends do over coffee as we sipped our cups of warm goodness. We had a long talk filled with laughter (starting with the realization that there were little embryos in wombs pictured on the top of our lattes-you have to look closely). We also had some tears as we shared our struggles with motherhood and what we want out of our handmade businesses and trying to do it all

So thankful we can share these moments.

The last day of filming had come to an end at Creative Live. The producers, camera crew, audio guys, the live audience- everyone was SO incredible and AWESOME!! We had a great few days here! So grateful for this experience.
That's a wrap!!

Read about what I learned from this experience as a small biz owner as well as a stay at home momma and wife.

Elevate Blog Conference 2014 RECAP

Last year, I attended my first blog conference in Newport Beach, Ca. This past Saturday, I returned to the Newport Dunes clubhouse to attend Elevate once again.

It was such an inspiring day to be immersed among such talented women! I feel like there is not enough time in one day to really get to talk and get to know everyone there. Last year, I really regretted not reaching out and networking more so this year, I tried harder to step out of my comfort zone of meeting new people and I still feel like I could have done more. I know a lot of you have felt this way after reading some of your posts. I think it's just inevitable when we are in an environment with so many opportunities and like-minded people around us. If I didn't get to meet you, please comment or email me at lovesparklepretty@aol.com because I'd love to connect with you!

This year, Elevate was incredible once again. From lunch catered by Bj's Pizza, encouraging and talented speakers, lots of AMAZING giveaways, swag for dayyyss, crafts to take home, dinner catered by Cafe Rio, TONS of delicious sweets and a HILARIOUS game of Minute to Win it, this day had my cup overflowing.

I am so thankful for this event put on by Jen from Delightful Deets, Summer from Made by Munchie's Momma and Nichole from Yeung Mother Hubbard with so much help by their wonderful families! I am completely blessed because of each of YOU!

I could go on and on about this beautiful day but instead, here are some photos...

My friend Tara from Laila's Charming Pieces and I went to Elevate together. Such a blessing to share this experience with a close friend!

Cara from Maskcara demonstrated some of her amazing talent with makeup. Megan from Absolute Mommy got some new eyebrows. Love!
Desiree from The 36th Avenue and Lisa from Lisa Leonard Designs were such wonderful and inspirational speakers!

Desiree, first off, won the key to my heart as she gifted each of us a package of delicious DONUTS! As she shared her heart and her story, she made me laugh SO hard and cry when her words became personal and raw. Thank you so much for your honesty Desiree and opeing up to us!

When I found out Lisa was speaking at the conference, I was ECSTATIC! I totally admire her and when I met her for the first time in person, she truly exceeded any expectations I may have had. She really is so kind hearted and loving. When it was her time to speak, I was all ears...even with a camera lens at my eye. Her words spoke straight to my heart. "The more you are yourself, the better you will be." "Be Brave." "Be Loving." Thank you so much Lisa for sharing your heart!

Chrissy from Let Me See You Sparkle and Stephanie from Life Created gave some photography advice. Thank you both for your courage to speak to all of us! I know you guys didn't have too much time to prepare but you both did great and you are so enduring!

Cara from Maskcara, Ashley from Little Miss Momma and Alissa from Diary of an Addict shared a round of tips for blogging from posing for photography to affiliate links. Thanks girls!
All of the women who helped make this event happen!
With the beautiful Lisa Leonard.
At the end of the night, we got to take home CRONUTS from DK's Donuts!!
Sweet dreams Newport.
Ended the night at Alissa's house for a little bon fire and snacks.
Thank you so much Alissa for opening your gorgeous home! I may have not been home until 2:30am but this day was all well worth it!!

Until next year...
