{Personal} Little Peek of Baby Girl's Nursery

I am still in the middle of getting the nursery all situated for our little Lyla Rose on the way. She's due in March so the nesting has ensued once again.

Since the little lady and our 3 year old son will be sharing a room (at least for now) I'm trying to figure out clever ways to make it suitable for both a boy and girl yet still keeping a way to decorate specifically for each child. So far, they have their own decor above each bed with Levi having an archery/nature theme and Lyla having an eclectic/floral theme. I've been working more on the wall above the crib and I just finished her floral mobile yesterday.

Here's just a little beginning peek of baby girl's nursery. More to come once the other projects are done.

What are some of your favorite nursery decor/projects? Any ideas for a shared room?

The nursery is done! 40 weeks TODAY! :)

Today, November 29, 2011 is our little one's due date! :) Although, he hasn't made his debut just yet, we are ready and waiting to see his sweet little face! I wanted to share the rest of the nursery details we finished and just about 90% of the nursery is done using handmade details by both my husband and I.
I shared our tree made with fabric leaves in a previous post HERE
Now, here's the rest of the nursery photos!

{Enjoy}

Here's the mobile I made just yesterday to hang about his crib :)

Buntings above his closet.
I bought these for the baby shower & decided to put them into use in the nursery! I bought them from Oliver Blue Designs.

I painted this frame a while back and added "you are my sunshine" lyrics to fabric for the back. Here's the post I featured including DIY instructions :)
So, it's all done and ready for our little guy to move into whenever he wants to arrive! :) Now, time to rest for a bit...

ADORABLE tree in nursery DONE! :D

As of last night, my husband and I completely finished the wall where the crib will go in the nursery! This wall took lots of detailed work and I'm so happy to say we are finished!
I had this whole idea of what I wanted the nursery to look like when we found out we were going to have a little baby and it is definitely more than what I expected it to look like :)

My husband and I started with stenciling the tree on the wall, then we picked out the paint colors and my husband completed painting the tree in no time! It was then my turn to start cutting out leaves of different fabrics and using wire within them so they could be bendable and more "leaf like." Once I cut out what seemed to be hundreds of leaves, we attached them to the branches using little pieces of command strips. Then, I used a bunting that I created a while back
{here's the post where I created it---incl. DIY instructions!}
and I hung it from the tree over the crib where little Levi will dream :). I also created a little bird made of fabric to attach to the end of the bunting. I used wire inside of the bird as well so that it would "pop out" & then added a little bow tie to the baby bird. Finally, we hung up the nightlight birdhouse that Grandpa Spence made for Levi! I absolutely love it!! :)

ANNNDDDD NOW.....
Here is a preview to our little man's nursery!
(The entire nursery layout will also be up soon considering we only have a few more projects left to complete in his room)

Adorable right? :) I'm pretty proud I must say!
Now it's time to hang up the curtains, arrange his baby books on the shelf, buy a pillow for the back of the rocking chair, and then we are about set! Only 4 weeks left until we get to see Levi's handsome little face!

You are my SUNSHINE

One of the many projects I have set out to create for our little man's nursery is the "You are my Sunshine" frame on the wall where the rocking chair will go. I have always loved the chorus lyrics to the song--"You are my Sunshine" and ever since I found out that my husband & I are expecting, I have hummed the tune to our little baby numerous times.

After finding an amazing frame from the local antique and vintage shop, it took me a couple of days to finish this project & I am really excited and happy with it! :)

This was the frame that my husband & I found before anything was done to it...

I started by painting the frame "antique white" shabby chic.

Then, I found some light green and yellow striped fabric for the background of the frame and started painting away! I painted completely freehanded (no rulers, stencils, etc.) with just the frame laying on top of the fabric so I could get everything as centered as possible.

Once I finished painting the lyrics, I added some color to the inside of the words I left outlined. Then, I attached the fabric to the back of the frame & cut the extra fabric off.

& here's the finished project after my amazing husband put it up on the wall :) (excuse the little mess in the room...we are still organizing)

There's still the fabric leaves I have to finish making for the tree painted on the wall where the crib will go...about 45 more leaves to make and a post will be up about that project! :D

Oh Baby!...nursery...

I have so many plans for our little man's room! Before my husband and I do anything though, we have to go out and buy paint...then it can all finally come together!
I am going to the LA fabric district tomorrow morning with my grandmother and while I am there, I will be buying lots of fabric for the nursery for all the little projects I have in mind :D I can't wait! ::sigh::

On the opposite wall where we are having the tree, fabric leaves, etc...The rocking chair will be in the corner and I need to find a decent size rectanguler frame to hang up on the wall above the rocking chair. Sort of like this frame...but without a picture inside! {Just the frame}

Inside of the frame, the background will be painted a different color than the rest of the wall and I'm going to grab some paint brushes and color and paint inside of it:
"You are my Sunshine
My only Sunshine
You make me Happy
When skies are Gray
You'll never know dear how much
I Love You
Please don't take my Sunshine Away"

Yesterday, I went to Michaels and I bought this large white letter L {stands for his name :)} which will sit on the shelf by where the frame will be as well as a little teddy bear, picture frame, and any other cute little baby boy trinkets.
Ok, so enough about some more of my projects (lots more to come anyways)
I was browsing the internet this morning and found some other really cute ideas for baby nurseries :)
Here's a room for a baby girl that is sooooo cute and unique!
I love how different the color pallete is! Although pink is my favorite color, these colors together look adorable and feminine without going over the top girly!

I also found this super cute owl themed nursery for a baby boy :)

Hope this gives you some inspiration for your own nursery room :)
Now it's time for me to go work on some hairpieces! Have a beautiful day everyone!
