Flowers = Inspiration

I haven't blogged in quite a while due to school, volunteering, working, & finding out some unexpected but exciting news! :) My projects have definitely been put off but I hope that I can soon get into the swing of things again within the next couple months...
Today though, after waking up and heading to the LA flower market at 3am to help a bride to be with her wedding flowers, I suddenly had an urge to post and create something new! I don't know what it is about that place...maybe all the colors, the floral aroma, the hustle and bustle of vendors, or the light crisp air that lingers before the sun wakes up in the morning...but it gave me a feeling of happiness just being among all of the different types of flowers. Some so delicate and soft while others were sturdy and bristly. It's amazing how many different kinds of flowers there are & where sudden inspiration reveals itself! A new project shall emerge very soon...I can feel it!

<3 It was a happy morning :)

Finished Ruffled Skirt!!

I fully completed Chanelle's skirt and it is ready for delivery-although, I don't wanna give it up because I fell completely in love with it!! ::sigh::

It's made up of sparkly chiffon cheetah print fabric, black lace (2 different types--1 for the ruffles & 1 for the hemming), black linen, elastic (around the waist), and black thread...as well as a whole lotta love :)

Bottom hemming {notice the sparkles on the cheetah print chiffon :) }

Hemming around the waist. --I added an elastic band within 2 pieces of back linen fabric for the inside of the skirt so its adjustable to wherever it is to be worn--and then added lace around the waistline.

So, I finally completed it after several hours getting every last detail as perfect as possible and it will be delivered to Chanelle today! :)

P.s. I will be opening a shop on Etsy soon! or...asap! :)

Bride to Be

Last night, I stayed up 'til about 2:30 in the morning letting my creativity run free! For this particular reason, I was putting together a gift for a bride to be for her tea party bridal shower!! Oh how I love tea parties! The floral dresses, the big floppy hats, the aroma of fresh flowers, the delicious flavors of tea in quaint little tea cups, the very feminine atmosphere...it's all too familiar from the days of dress up as a little girl :)
To add to the essence of the tea party, I put together a little something as a gift to the new bride.

I had bought a set of tea cups which originally had silver/gray design on the set but of course I had to change it to make it girlier :) So, I painted in hot pink over the silver detail as well as hand painted the word--"Bride" on a tag which I tied to the handle with ivory ribbon.

The most time spent was in creating a hairpiece which was very detailed yet simple and classic! As a bride, the traditional colors are white/ivory so I wanted to keep the hairpiece in that color palette using different textures including several different lace patterns, chiffon, satin, I also included pearls and feathers! :) Although, I put a lot of detail into it, I made it small enough to wear it casually, yet definitely added plenty of embellishments so it can be worn with something more elegant!

So, that's where my imagination was put into last night! Sometimes, the creative "itch" can lead to something worth falling in love with...I know I did!! :D

I still have another cheetah print ruffle on the bottom to do as well as sew in elastic around the waist and a couple other details...but this shall be complete in the next couple days :)

Have a lovely day <3

A NEW project

A couple days ago, I went to the mall with a friend to go on a bit of a shopping spree. I wore my lace skirt that I made about a month back. Little did I know, that decision would guide me into a new creation :)

A girl, by the name of Chanelle, stopped me and after complimenting on my skirt, she asked if I could make her one {of course I would! :) } she gave me her ideas on a skirt and we decided on the fabric (which I have to pick the rest up tomorrow)!

This project will be a layered lace and cheetah print ruffled skirt :) There is a bit of sparkle to the chiffon cheetah print fabric as well which makes it even girlier! Once I start this skirt, I will be posting pictures of its progress so check back soon...
